Vettel è stato autore di un grande rimonta ed è finito in terza posizione po il sogno di salire sul terzo gradino del podio è svanito per colpa di una foratura. Vettel, memore di quello che era accaduto alla Mercedes di Rosberg durante le prove libere, si è scagliato contro Pirelli.
Rosberg ha forato durante le prove libere mentre andava a 360 km/h. Non gli è successo niente ma se l’è vista brutta e Pirelli ha immediatamente aperto un’indagine dichiarando che la gomma di Rosberg è scoppiata per via di qualche detrito presente sull’asfalto di SPA.
Le qualificazioni sono filate via lisce come l’olio ma in gara un nuovo patatrac che interessa la Ferrari. Vettel, autore di una splendida rimonta, ha cercato a lungo di tenere a bada Grosjean e ci è anche riuscito ma a 14 km dal traguardo la sua ruota si è bucata. Il pilota non è affatto tenero nelle dichiarazioni. Poteva morire, dice il giovane tedesco della scuderia di Maranello:
Credo che una cosa sia l’aspetto competitivo in gara, perché meritavamo di chiudere terzi, ma non ci siamo riusciti e queste sono le gare. Sarei potuto uscire di pista, sarebbe potuta succedere qualunque cosa, ma se fosse successo duecento metri prima non sarei qui a rispondere alle domande e magari sarei finito a 300 all’ora contro le barriere all’Eau Rouge. Questo è inaccettabile, è successo qualcosa di simile (a Rosberg ndr) venerdì senza che sia stato evidenziato e capito a sufficienza. Se ascoltiamo tutte le scuse, i detriti, il fatto che il pilota sia uscito di pista, sono tutte cavolate. L’ha detto Nico che non è uscito di pista e neanche io sono uscito di pista. Non c’è nessuna spiegazione per quello che è successo, non è stato sicuro.
